The 2025 Toyota GR Corolla may be getting an automatic transmission for the first time, according to several online reports. A Canadian order sheet posted on the GR Corolla Forum suggests that the 2025 model will include an optional eight-speed automatic transmission. This new option will be available on the midlevel Premium trim.

Toyota’s hot hatch is also expected to have an increase in torque, with the peak torque rising from 273 to 295 pound-feet. This increase would bring it on par with the track-focused Morizo Edition. The GR Corolla is already known for being a thrilling drive, thanks to its punchy 300-hp turbocharged three-cylinder engine and the standard six-speed manual transmission, which has a direct and engaging feel.

Until now, the GR Corolla has only been available with a manual transmission, but the 2025 model might change that.

The order guide, reportedly sourced from a verified owner’s group on Facebook and shared on the forum, indicates that along with the new automatic transmission, all 2025 GR Corolla models will feature an increased torque output. Additionally, all models will receive a redesigned front bumper, although specific details about the changes are not yet clear.

The entry-level Core trim will remain manual-only and will add a heated steering wheel and brake cooling ducts. The Premium trim will gain several upgrades, including 18-inch matte black wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, a head-up display, and a sub-radiator to enhance engine cooling.

The top-tier Circuit Edition was not mentioned in the order guide. However, if it continues to be part of the lineup for 2025, it is expected to incorporate the same upgrades as the Premium trim. When asked about the reported changes for the 2025 GR Corolla, a Toyota spokesperson had no comments to add at this time.
