Atlanta is on its way to becoming the next great technology hub in America.
Although it is true that no other place can compete with Silicon Valley when it comes to the biggest technology headquarters, Atlanta might be catching up.
One advantage Atlanta has over The Bay Area is the cost of living in the city.
Yes, we all know that living in a city where the economy is booming has its perks for businesses. But what about rent or real estate? What about the cost of everything else in that city? Prices are up to the roof!
Lots of different tech firms have put Atlanta in their list of cities they could be located in.
These are the three pros that Atlanta has among other cities:
- Low-cost living
- Education and Universities
- Growing startup community
Whether it be food, gas, taxes, or housing, everything in Atlanta is much cheaper than most cities in the West Coast, especially Silicon Valley. One bedroom apartments cost an average of $1,200 a month. Meanwhile, the exact same size and type of apartment will cost about $3,000 a month. It’s double the price!
A recent study that compared the cost of living in both places found that earning $95,000 in Atlanta equivalents to earning about $250,000 a year in Silicon Valley, just to be able to keep up with the same lifestyle.
Atlanta also has some of the best universities in America. Georgia Institute of Technology, Emory University, University of Georgia, and Georgia State University. All of the best leaders in the business field have attended and graduated from these schools.
Lots of new entrepreneurs are launching their own companies in Atlanta. A study shows that the tech jobs in the city have grown 50% in the last 7 years!
Now, the city also has so many job-hungry, eager “techtrepreneurs” ready to help one another out.
This city has a great mix of educated kids and lots of different job opportunities. The tech industry is thriving here and marking its place in the heart of this city.
