A mansion party was shut down by Atlanta police during Memorial Day weekend. Despite a global pandemic that has ravaged both America and the rest of the world, people seem to be okay with gathering in groups of 10 or more. In this case, the party had over 800 people packed like sardines with topless dancers in pools and hot tubs.
Police were called in to close down the party. The party is creating a lot of stir within the city and local officials. Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has expressed her disappointment with her citizens who would not take the proper safety precautions to help stop the spread of the virus.
Her spokesperson had this to say:
“While the Mayor is extremely disappointed to see these isolated events, she is encouraged by the vast majority of Atlantans who value their lives and the lives of others enough to practice social distancing and use some common sense.”
The Mansion Party Showed No Signed Of Proper Safety
It seems that the rest of the city has other thoughts on the seriousness of the virus. Many have shown outspoken support for the current stay-in-place procedures.
The country is still in the grip of a massive pandemic. As of now, the virus is claiming more than 100,000 lives. While many have gone back to work, and some states are starting to reopen, it doesn’t mean the virus has gone away.
Everyday more Americans are exposed to COVID-19. That is why it is still the best idea to stay 6-feet apart. It is also important to remain at home unless you are picking up essential items.
